There are just some couples you meet with, and you know that you will instantly click- and for me, that was Jamie and Nick. I met with them at a little coffee shop in St. Augustine, and I am pretty sure we laughed the whole time. I knew their wedding day would be the same way, and I was spot on. Its so great watching people committing to spend their lives together- but its even better when you have as much fun with the couples as I did with these two!

Their event was nothing short of beautiful, with a gorgeous light wall, and a ballroom at the Casa Monica decorated in pinks and golds. And while, in typical Florida fashion, it rained, these two still made the absolute most of a perfect day.

Jamie + Nick- what can I say- you two are perfect! I am in awe of your love for each other, and the joy you two bring into each others lives- and the people that surround you.  I hope you two have as much fun each day of your lives , that you have on your wedding day. And Nick, I will be anticipating my new shoes with Red soles any day now that you two are back from Europe! Congrats to you both!

Pure sugar studios__1565.jpgHow did you two meet? We were both servers at Carrabba’s while completing our undergraduate degrees at the University of South Florida.

How did he pop the question?
Nick and Jamie went on vacation to Reykavic, Iceland in October of 2013. Nick had planned the proposal for months, emailing back and forth with their hotel manager for local insight.  His original plan was to propose under the Northern Lights on their first night during a guided excursion, but the lights did not cooperate.  Knowing how unpredictable the lights are, Nick had already secured a plan B.

The next day they went to a geothermal lagoon and spa called The Blue Lagoon, which is recognized as one of the wonders of the world .  During the bus ride there, Jamie noticed that Nick seemed a little off but he claimed to simply have a headache, so she didn’t think much of it.  When they arrived at the spa, Nick suggested they go to the restaurant for lunch.  Shortly after being sat, Nick excused himself to go to the gift shop for “headache” medicine. Jamie was completely unaware that he was actually just confirming the special room arrangements he had coordinated with the manager.

After lunch, Jamie was escorted upstairs to find a private suite filled with candles, rose petals, chocolates, and champagne.  As Jamie took off her coat, she turned to find Nick down on one knee holding a little black box. Through the tears of excitement and surprise, Nick received his YES!

How did you choose your theme? Flowers? and overall wedding design? Every time we visited Saint Augustine it always felt so romantic to us so we just wanted an atmosphere that exuded romance and elegance to our guests.

What was the best moment{s} of your wedding day? Our first look! It was great to have that time alone together, best decision we could have made. Also our last dance at the end of the night , it was only him and I in the ballroom as our guest waited for us outside for our sparkler exit and it was magical. It was intimate, romantic and the perfect ending to our wedding. I would recommend that every couple do this at their wedding 🙂

How would you describe your overall wedding experience? We had a blast with our family and friends and couldn’t have asked for a better time.

What photography related advice would you offer to a couple? I definitely recommend doing a first look, it allowed us to spend some time alone before being surrounded by a hundred people. It was also great to get our formal pictures out of the way so we could relax and enjoy the rest of the reception.

Tell me about your dress. Where did you find it, how did you choose it, how did you know it was the one? I found it at Malindy Elene Couture. I tried it on and absolutely loved it but wished it had more of a fit and flare style to it, when I mentioned this to the owner she explained that all of the dresses are custom made and that I could make any changes I wanted to it. As soon as she said that I knew it was the one.

How was your experience taking photos/working with me on your wedding day? We had a blast, you made everything very easy and fun 🙂

Did you see each other before the wedding? If not, did you like waiting or would you have rather done it differently? Tell me why or why not!

Any tips on how to prepare for the wedding photos? Make sure you pay close attention to your family formals list. We have a very large family and created our list very quickly not realizing that we had left out some family members.
