San Marco is its whole own vibe and one of my favorite corners of Jacksonville to shoot senior portraits — and once you've stood in front of the lion fountain at golden hour, you'll understand why. A little bit rocker vintage, a little eclectic, and add in the river and the square, and you have a great background for your senior pictures! With the addition of the new friendship fountain, its a great place for your whole session. And close enough to 5 points, Murray Hill, and downtown to add one of those areas in to your session. San Marco gives a senior session a backdrop that feels timeless instead of trendy.

Senior Photos in San Marco, Jacksonville & the Southbank
Late afternoon into golden hour is San Marco at its best wth warm light, thinner crowds, no harsh midday shadows. San Marco Square is walkable once you're parked (free and metered spots nearby), so we can move between the buildings in the area. From there it's a short drive to Friendship Fountain, passing a few of San Marco's other standout pockets along the way — including tree-lined parks with sprawling, moss-draped oaks, if you're after something softer and more natural alongside the architecture.
Timing & Getting Around
A short drive from the Square, the Southbank opens up into sky and river light - exactly what sunset needs and leads down to Friendship Fountain, one of Jacksonville's most recognizable landmarks. This is usually where a session closes out showcasing the city skyline, the fountain, and the sunset.

Balis Park sits at the center of San Marco Square, anchored by a fountain guarded by three bronze lions — a nod to the neighborhood's Venice-inspired design. The Mediterranean Revival buildings around it - arched doorways, brick facades, wrought iron detail- give us texture that a plain studio backdrop never could, and let a senior's personality lead instead of competing with the background.
