Senior Info

Let’s be real—your senior year is one of the most unforgettable times of your life. It’s full of lasts, but it’s also bursting with firsts. This is your chance to show up fully, create core memories, and do it your way. Whether you’re more hype-girl or heart-on-your-sleeve, this list will help you live your senior year with intention. (And if you stick around to the end, you’ll find a way to capture it all forever—because, yes, your photos matter too.)

As you can see, I photograph a lot of high school seniors here in Northeast Florida, and my fave spot.. the beach! I love getting to capture the sunset {and sometimes the sunrise} over our two cities, and celebrate with local seniors, and ones that travel here! Add in some vintage St Augustine, and you have senior perfection- I love sharing this little bit of our amazing area!

1. Watch the Sunrise (or Sunset) with Intention

There’s something about watching the sky shift colors that just hits different during your senior year. It’s like time slows down for a minute, and you’re reminded that this chapter—no matter how wild or overwhelming—is sacred.
Make it an event: roll up with coffee and donuts for a sunrise beach hang in St. Augustine, or head out to a favorite park for golden hour with your besties. Bring your camera (or just your phone), and soak it in. These are the quiet moments that ground you.

2. Paint Your Senior Spot (and Your Jeans!)

Painting a senior parking spot is basically a rite of passage in our area high schools—and it’s your chance to put your personality on display. Whether you’re going artsy, funny, or bold and bright, that square of pavement becomes yours. And don’t stop there—grab a pair of thrifted jeans and turn them into wearable memories. Add your school colors, senior slogans, or even your grad year.

Need a little help with the jeans part? Check out this Teen Vogue DIY Painted Jeans Guide or this Pinterest collection of custom senior jeans ideas. Pro tip: Michael’s, Joann’s, or even Five Below has paint supplies that work great for fabric!

3. Attend All the Events (Yes, Even That One)

Hear me out—this is your last chance to show up as a student. Go to the homecoming dance even if it’s not your thing. Paint your face for the Friday night game. Rock the tacky sweater day during Spirit Week. You’ll never regret showing up.
Even if it’s awkward or silly or totally outside your comfort zone, showing up fully during senior year becomes part of your legacy. These little moments build memories that live forever in your heart (and probably in your group chat).

4. Go All Out with Your Halloween Costume

Senior year = your last chance to slay the high school costume game. Go big, go weird, go 2000s throwback. Whether you coordinate with your friends or rock a solo vibe, make it unforgettable.
Not sure what to wear? Here are 8 Senior Halloween Ideas that totally scream you. Bonus: these look amazing in a Halloween-themed mini session!

5. Plan a Bucket List Bash

Instead of waiting for the big grad party, host a low-key “senior year bucket list” night. Think backyard bonfire, boardwalk sunset, pizza picnic at the park—whatever feels most you.
Have everyone bring something that represents what they want to do before graduation. Write it on a poster, a notebook, your painted jeans. Capture those little in-between moments on film or in photos—because this might be the last time you’re all together like this.

6. Get your Senior Pics done right! {this one is BIG}

Book a senior session that feels like you-This one’s more than a checkbox—it’s a celebration of your entire high school journey- and they are a pretty big deal. These will hang in your parents home for ever {mine is still up}, show up on grad invites, and will most likely be your last official photos before adulthood comes knocking! A professional senior photo session lets you freeze this moment in time with intention. Not the awkward school photo vibes… I’m talking dreamy lighting, natural movement, outfits you love, and locations that matter to you.
I specialize in Luxury senior portarits that tell YOUR storty. No matter your vibe, from beachy to urban, I will help you show up as your most confident self, so you tell the story that matters to you! 7. Write a Letter to Future You

Open your notes app—or better yet, grab a journal—and pour out what you’re feeling right now. The excitement, the nerves, the gratitude, the plans. This doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to be honest.
Seal it up or save it in your email with a future send date. You’ll be amazed at how powerful it feels to hear from your past self, especially when you’re halfway through your freshman year of college wondering who you are again.

8. Capture the Everyday (Not Just the Highlights)

Everyone posts the big wins. But the hallway laughs, the parking lot dance-offs, the midweek chaos of being 17? That’s gold. Film short clips throughout your senior year and turn them into a mini recap video.
Even just 1 second a day can become the most meaningful thing you watch back in June. Grab a journal, keep track of the memories, the exciting things that happen through out the year. You will love looking back at all of them! Even better, Make your memories tangible. Create a senior-year photo wall or monthly photo drop. Use a print service like Parabo Press or Artifact Uprising for high-quality photo books or prints you’ll treasure long after graduation.

Don’t let your best year live and die on your phone.

9. Celebrate the Landmarks

Take a photo at the senior rock, your favorite hallway, the cafeteria table where it all started, or even that random stairwell where you met your best friend. These spots are more than just walls—they’re part of your story.
And don’t forget to grab at least one photo in your cap and gown at one of your fave Jax or St. Augustine locations. It’s the ultimate full-circle moment.

10. Apply to college- or whatever is next

Your senior year isn’t just about what you’re leaving—it’s about where you’re headed. Whether that’s college, the military, a trade program, or a creative gap year, this is the time to start moving forward with intention. Applying early gives you options, breathing room, and a sense of clarity in the chaos. Even if you’re not 100% sure what you want to do yet, that’s okay. The most important step is starting. Ask questions, tour campuses, build your resume, and don’t be afraid to explore nontraditional paths—your future doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s to be successful. This season is about stepping into what’s next with confidence.

Bonus 1: Say Thank You

You’ve made it through with help. Maybe it was a teacher, coach, counselor, or your parents. Write a short note or email. It’s an act of closure, gratitude, and emotional maturity that’ll carry you forward in the best way, and the difference it will make to that person, immeasurable!

Bonus 2: Play senior assassin {Safely, of Course}

Armed with water guns, strategy, and maybe a little too much adrenaline, you and your classmates turn your final semester into a full-on game of sneaky tag. It’s silly, chaotic, and so much fun—as long as everyone stays safe and respectful (no surprise attacks in class, y’all!). If you school doesn’t have it, grab some water guns, and start your own traditions!

Final thoughts-

Your senior year is a whirlwind- not only are there loads of lasts, but its also full of firsts! Its YOUR chance to show up, stand out, make your plan, and soak in every little moment. Keep in mind, your parents, they are living all this through you right now too, and are feeling it all a bit more than normal. Go live this year in your way, and OUT LOUD! You will never regret living these moments to the fullest, I promise you!
