Brooch bouquets have become all the rage lately and I can 100% see why! Last year I was planning my own wedding and fell in love with idea of having a brooch bouquet. I was planning a destination wedding outside of the country and knew that I would not be able to return home with my dried bouquet to save as a memento. To me the idea of spending $1,000.00s on flowers when I would only get to enjoy them for half a day seemed crazy! That is when I decided a brooch bouquet was the perfect idea for this sentimental gal. I started my search by hitting up the clearance racks at Stein Mart, Macy’s and any department store that was in town. Then the reality of how expensive those little buggers were set in. Gesh! I soon realized that thrift stores were the way to go. Also, brooch bouquets do not have to be made up of just brooches, you can use earrings and those trendy stretch rings. I started calling friends and family members asking for any “donations” from them. A girlfriend gave me a brooch that she used during her wedding, relatives sent me heirlooms to include… I had brooch bouquet supplies coming from all over the place!

Brooch bouquets are a great way to tie in “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” Brides can incorporate their wedding colors into the bouquet as well. Some brooch bouquets are monochromatic while others are a hodge-podge of goodies. There is an endless amount of options for these dazzling creations. Personally, my maid-of-honor was creating my bouquet as a surprise for the day of the wedding, but another option is to send off the supplies to a specialist who will make it for you!

So how can you tie in the brooches to other parts of the wedding day? A girlfriend of mine had brooches on her wedding cake. She had a ribbon on each layer with a brooch to adore it. I had a brooch as part of a custom belt on my wedding dress. Another way is to have a special brooch for each parent or bridesmaid.

Nothing can fully replace the traditional, fragrant bridal bouquet, but this is just a superb option. Aren’t options fun?
