Kristin & Josh’s wedding day turned out to be gorgeous. As a wedding photographer, I was in awe of the details and colors. Her dress was displayed beautifully which made for some really great shots. I just loved working with this couple and capturing the emotions from everyone that was in attendance on their special day.

How did you meet?
We met in college through a mutual friend.
How did he pop the question?
Josh’s birthday always falls during the time that his family vacations in Daytona. While we were in Daytona, he was opening his birthday presents and on his last present, he pulled out a ring and proposed!
How did you choose your theme, flowers, and over all design?
We wanted something casual and a little bit country. I did a lot of searching on Pinterest to find what would look best with our venue and go with the theme. Also, aqua/blues and neutrals are my favorite colors!
What were the best moment(s) of your wedding day?
Seeing each other, for the first time, at the other ends of the aisle was so exciting.
How would you describe your overall wedding experience?
Incredible! It went by so fast, but we wouldn’t have changed a thing.
What photography advice would you offer to a couple?
Do research to find out what style of photography you want for your pictures. Don’t choose a photographer based just on price and always ask around…sometimes the best reviews and suggestions come by word of mouth.
Tell me about your dress! How did you choose it? Where did you find it, and how did you know it was the one?
I found my dress at Love, a bridal boutique in Jacksonville Beach. I wanted something simple and classic, but still fun. I tried on a bunch of dresses, first I thought I wanted pure white, lace, and fitted throughout. It’s always a good idea to try on different styles because after I tried on what I thought I wanted, I realized that it wasn’t comfortable and really wasn’t what I wanted. When I tried on my dress, it just felt right!
How was your experience taking photos/working with me?
Kelly was great to work with! She had to deal with all of the groomsmen who’s quote of the day was “that’s what she said” and she even joked along with them! π She listened to our suggestions and worked with us to get the best pictures.
Did you see each other before the ceremony? If not, did you like waiting, or would have done it differently? Why or why not?
We did not see each other before the wedding. We both wanted to keep it a surprise and not see each other until the ceremony. It was hard to not see or talk to each other all day, but that’s what made the day even more exciting!
Any tips on how to prepare for the wedding photos?
Don’t stress! A photographer always wants to take the best pictures possible for your wedding day. Do research on what styles/poses you like and dislike. Don’t be afraid to give ideas of something you may want, but also be willing to listen to the photographer- they have most likely done a wedding or two and have more experience with preparing and working for big events.
We love to hear about vendors you love. List any great vendor experiences here.
Did you find a store/site that had everything you were looking for? Use this space to talk about favorite shops. You can include where you got your dress, sites you got your veils/dΓ©cor/accessories, etc.
Pinterest and Hobby Lobby were my favorites! Hobby Lobby always has good deals and they always had decorations that I was looking for to go along with the rustic theme…and I can’t say anything bad about Pinterest, it’s just the best! π I also bought my jewelry and garter from Etsy.
What were you most anxious, nervous or fearful about regarding your wedding day and what was the outcome?
I was most anxious about everything coming together in the end. At our venue, we had to bring in outside vendors for everything, so planning a timeline was a little stressful. It all worked out in the end though!
Any tips that you have about preparing your wedding party for the photos? What did you tell them, how did you get them to cooperate, what did you do or what would you have done differently?
I think we had a smaller sized wedding party and everyone seemed to cooperate well and listen to direction. We had a few large family photos that were harder to get everyone on the same page all at once, but that happens with large groups and we still were able to get the photos without too many delays.
What do you want to always remember from your wedding day?
“IF I only I knew!” what is one piece of advise you would give to brides planning their wedding day?
Ask for a “to go” plate of food for after the reception. Josh and I were so hungry again after the reception and it would have been great to have more food…it was so good! π
What kind of food was served at your reception?
What was the first song you danced to as husband and wife? Father-daughter dance? Mother-son dance?
First dance: Hey Pretty Girl by Kip Moore
Mother-son: That’s What Mamas Do by Jason Matthews
And where are you going on your honeymoon?
We went on a cruise to Key West, Grand Cayman and Jamaica…so much fun!
