Why do senior photos in St. Augustine, Florida
From its cobblestone streets, to the coquina shell buildings, St. Augustine is the oldest City in the USA, and earns its name from that distinction. This means you get interesting architecture mixed with old world style, which is the perfect backdrop for senior pictures. old walls? Yep, covered! Cobblestone and brick streets? Of course! Vibrant colors on the walls, sure thing! But, we have natural colored walls too! The oldest school house in the US, yep, and the oldest fort too! Add to that the Fort Matanzas river, beaches nearby, the night of lights in the winter, and stunning sunsets, and you can see why people travel to make this location their senior photo destination!
Whether you’re after bold and modern, soft and coastal, or romantic and timeless, St. Augustine checks all the boxes. Here’s why it’s one of my favorite places to shoot (and why my seniors and their parents are always obsessed!).
1. The History? Chef’s Kiss.
We’re talking ancient stone walls, coquina textures, moss-draped trees… the vibe here is unreal. The Castillo de San Marcos gives serious “historic meets editorial” energy, and those cobblestone streets? Total storybook. Add golden hour light and it’s basically magic.
2. Coastal Views for Days
If beachy and breezy is more your style, you’re in luck. St. Augustine Beach and the pier bring all the fun, barefoot vibes—with that salty air and soft pastel skies you can only get by the water. Want toes-in-the-sand photos and glam architecture in the same session? Here, you can do both.
3. So. Much. Variety.
That’s the thing—every corner of St. Augustine gives you something new. Flagler College’s courtyards? Elegant and European. St. George Street? Lively, colorful, and a little quirky. You can pack 3-4 totally different looks into one shoot—and still be within walking distance.
4. It Feels Like an Experience
Not only are the photos amazing, but the whole day feels like a mini adventure. Seniors get to explore cool spots, make memories, and honestly just have a blast. Parents love it too—because this doesn’t feel like a “photo shoot.” It feels like a celebration.

This fabulous senior, Peyton, came from southwest Florida, and her and her mom made a fabulous weekend of it! That’s right, this mom got a whole weekend with her senior daughter {yeah, I was jealous too}! We did photos that showed off her style, her sport, and used this fabulous destination as her backdrop. Peyton and her mom planned for night of lights, and with one heck of ball gown that we had in the KHP style closet, she got the most magical princess photos too! Her mom said it was the perfect experience for them both since she was a little bit sporty and a little bit diva as well. Because St. Augustine offers loads of streets, buildings, water locations and textures, it makes for a unique location for photos… and did I mention, its unlike any place else you can photograph in the US! Luckily for my Northeast Florida seniors, its in our backyard!
